WEBVTT 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:04.000 Music 00:00:04.000 --> 00:00:09.000 Music 00:00:09.000 --> 00:00:16.000 Good afternoon and welcome to the Western Oregon University live webcast for admitted students. 00:00:16.000 --> 00:00:20.000 For our students, congratulations once again on your admission to Western Oregon. 00:00:20.000 --> 00:00:22.000 I'm sure you still have a lot of questions. 00:00:22.000 --> 00:00:30.000 I know some of you participated in our chats earlier today so thank you so much for joining me and some of my colleagues from across campus. 00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:36.000 As a reminder, we have Marshall Guthrie from the Student Enrichment Program hosting a chat as we speak. 00:00:36.000 --> 00:00:41.000 And then Evelyn Garcia, one of our current students, will be hosting from 5-6. 00:00:41.000 --> 00:00:49.000 So, I've prepared a few slides for you and I think these slides often address some of the commonly asked questions from admitted students. 00:00:49.000 --> 00:00:56.000 Whether you're a first time freshman or coming in as a transfer student, I hope this addresses some of the questions that you have. 00:00:56.000 --> 00:00:64.000 And of course, I can feed your questions, you can submit your questions this afternoon to me and I can try and get through as many of those as possible during the webcast. 00:01:04.000 --> 00:01:08.000 I'm going to jump to one of the first slides. 00:01:08.000 --> 00:01:12.000 That's the intent to enroll process. And I know a few of you asked about that process. 00:01:12.000 --> 00:01:17.000 Every campus is a little bit different when it comes to first time freshman and even transfer students for that matter. 00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:22.000 Just a reminder, if you are admitted as a first time freshman, 00:01:22.000 --> 00:01:28.000 that institutions expect you essentially to declare your intentions by May 1st. 00:01:28.000 --> 00:01:31.000 But at Western Oregon, we're a little bit different. 00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:34.000 We say beginning May 1st let us know what your plans are. 00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:37.000 And so part of this we don't require an enrollment deposit. 00:01:37.000 --> 00:01:44.000 Many schools will say we want 200 dollars 300 dollars to confirm your spot in our new student class. 00:01:44.000 --> 00:01:52.000 And this intent enroll process really is a national policy. But once again Western we are a little bit different and we pride ourselves on that. 00:01:52.000 --> 00:01:58.000 What we say is beginning May 1st is when you'll let us know what your plans are for fall term. 00:01:58.000 --> 00:01:66.000 We hope that is yes. And what you'll do is actually go to your Western Oregon University or WOU Portal. 00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:17.000 And for some of you, you've already set up your account for the portal but you had to do that when you were applying for the general scholarships and awards or you've just done that because you've received that information in your acceptance pack. 00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:21.000 And so the portal, that's a great way for you to gather information. 00:02:21.000 --> 00:02:28.000 Whether it's simply being able to view your Western Oregon email or to get information about housing down the road, ect. 00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:33.000 That's kind of like that source of all that information for you as a Western Oregon Student. 00:02:33.000 --> 00:02:38.000 So, beginning on May 1st there will be for admitted freshman 00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:41.000 a link that will appear on your portal. 00:02:41.000 --> 00:02:52.000 And it will be specifically under the heading of My Programs. It'll magically appear and you'll click on that link to go through that process itself. 00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:56.000 What we'll do is we'll send you a mailing, admitted freshman 00:02:56.000 --> 00:02:59.000 later this month about the intent to enroll process. 00:02:59.000 --> 00:02:64.000 So a reminder for those of you participating in this webcast right now listening to me and watching me. 00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:07.000 And for others that didn't necessarily get the information today. 00:03:07.000 --> 00:03:11.000 You'll get a mailing just reminding you you have to go through this process starting May 1st. 00:03:11.000 --> 00:03:17.000 And essentially there will be three options for you once you click on that link it's Yes I'm coming to Western Oregon, we hope that's the case, 00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:22.000 No I plan to cancel my admission, and we'll let other departments know of your decision. 00:03:22.000 --> 00:03:30.000 Or, I want to defer my admission to a future term, such as winter term, which begins in January. 00:03:30.000 --> 00:03:39.000 So there will always be a small percentage of students may decide to defer admission and will still be able to use your application for winter for spring term, just to let you know. 00:03:39.000 --> 00:03:44.000 And as I shared earlier, Western Oregon does not require an enrollment deposit. 00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:49.000 So, put away that check book, the debt card, the credit card for mom or dad or for you the student. 00:03:49.000 --> 00:03:53.000 There's no enrollment fee or deposit so I just want to stress that again. 00:03:53.000 --> 00:03:59.000 Now, if you are a transfer student, you're not required to go through the intent to enroll process. 00:03:59.000 --> 00:03:62.000 We'll talk about transfer student orientation in just a moment. 00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:05.000 But transfer students are not required to go through this process. 00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:16.000 And, just to share for our students who are from other states, if you are say from the state of California or from Hawaii 00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:20.000 you're not required to go through this intent to enroll process beginning May 1st. 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000 It'll be a little bit different for you and we're going to jump into that actually right now. 00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:35.000 So for our transfer students, just to go back here, we have what's called Transfer Student Orientation Advising and Registration or TSOAR. 00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:39.000 Got to love all the acronyms that we use in higher ed. 00:04:39.000 --> 00:04:49.000 So that program is on Saturday May 16th, that is a Saturday so if you don't have this date on the calendar please write that now or put in your phone, whatever the case may be. 00:04:49.000 --> 00:04:50.000 But it is a Saturday. 00:04:50.000 --> 00:04:55.000 And this is for all new transfer students admitted for fall term. 00:04:55.000 --> 00:04:61.000 So, what will happen at TSOAR, one of the most important things is you will register for fall term courses. 00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:05.000 This is your first opportunity to get those fall term courses. 00:05:05.000 --> 00:05:14.000 You'll meet with faculty from your intended major. So for example, if you're Criminal Justice major you'll go to the Criminal Justice advising session. 00:05:14.000 --> 00:05:19.000 Teacher education you'll go to the education advising session ect. 00:05:19.000 --> 00:05:25.000 There are some placements tests that will be administered during the program itself. So please keep that in mind. 00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:32.000 So there's the Biology placement test for those of you that are planning to major or minor in Biology. 00:05:32.000 --> 00:05:39.000 And we also have a new Spanish placement test. So these are web based exams that will be administered during the program. 00:05:39.000 --> 00:05:48.000 So if you plan once again to major in biology or minor in that or looking at one of our pre-health sciences, such as a pre-medicine or one of our other areas 00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:50.000 you'll be required to take the Biology placement test. 00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:55.000 One exception is pre-nursing. For those of you who are pre-nursing you don't have to take the biology placement test. 00:05:55.000 --> 00:05:57.000 You may be happy about that. 00:05:57.000 --> 00:05:64.000 And of course Spanish. If you're continuing on with Spanish and if you've gone beyond the 101 level 00:06:04.000 --> 00:06:08.000 then you'll need to take the Spanish placement test. And the TSOAR mailing will have information about that. 00:06:08.000 --> 00:06:11.000 So, when is the TSOAR mailing coming out? 00:06:11.000 --> 00:06:18.000 That's a big question, that actually should be going out this next week. You should be getting something in your mailbox by the end of this next week. 00:06:18.000 --> 00:06:24.000 And it will go live in terms of register for the program on April 15th. 00:06:24.000 --> 00:06:30.000 So you'll actually log into your portal transfer students and you'll be able to sign up for TSOAR. 00:06:30.000 --> 00:06:35.000 Now, if you can't attend the event, we'll have instructions in that mailing. 00:06:35.000 --> 00:06:44.000 In terms of I can't come to TSOAR, that I have other commitments, obligations, or I live out of state and it's not feasible for me to travel to Western Oregon on that Saturday. 00:06:44.000 --> 00:06:51.000 You'll have information in that mailing about what if I can't attend. There will be a future date that you can register for classes. 00:06:51.000 --> 00:06:57.000 Staff in the office in admissions, including myself, can address that question for you but we hope that you can make it on that day 00:06:57.000 --> 00:06:69.000 because that really is that first opportunity to get those fall term classes, get your ID card, connect with folks across campus, tour those residents halls if you're thinking about living on campus, ect. 00:07:09.000 --> 00:07:17.000 Now, jumping into summer orientation advising and registration or SOAR, once again one of those great acronyms. 00:07:17.000 --> 00:07:23.000 You may know already but we actually do some programs out of state when it comes to SOAR. 00:07:24.000 --> 00:07:28.000 The first two programs are actually for our admitted freshman from the state of Hawaii. 00:07:28.000 --> 00:07:32.000 So, we can see on May 3rd, we'll be in Honolulu 00:07:32.000 --> 00:07:35.000 May 4th on the island of Maui at Baldwin High School. 00:07:35.000 --> 00:07:36.000 So there's those two programs. 00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:46.000 And similar to transfer students signing up for TSOAR, our students from the state of Hawaii will sign up for one of those SOAR dates in their homestate using the portal. 00:07:46.000 --> 00:07:50.000 So you will pick the date that works best for you and location. 00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:54.000 And, you'll have the opportunity to select a block schedule. 00:07:54.000 --> 00:07:62.000 So this is something we do for freshman, not for transfer students but for freshman, we actually build for you full time schedules for fall term. 00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:11.000 So we kind of take the pain and anxiety out of registering for fall term. This could be a big transition point for you as a new freshman. 00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:19.000 But our associate register and faculty they work together to develop these schedules for you. So some of the blocks will have an introductory course for majors. 00:08:19.000 --> 00:08:25.000 There'll be a Criminal Justice block schedule or there could be a teacher education block schedule, ect. 00:08:25.000 --> 00:08:28.000 So have that introductory course that freshman can take. 00:08:28.000 --> 00:08:35.000 But a majority of courses will be core curriculum courses or what's called the LACC, Liberal Arts Core Curriculum. 00:08:35.000 --> 00:08:39.000 And that's primarily what you're working on your freshman and sophomore year at Western. 00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:45.000 It's called the LACC and that's where these blocks mostly consist of LACC courses. 00:08:45.000 --> 00:08:53.000 Now, if you come to the May 3rd or May 4th program in the state of Hawaii, you'll have the opportunity that day to make changes to your schedule. 00:08:53.000 --> 00:08:63.000 So let's just say hypothetically, you have a block schedule that includes a class that's at 8am and you've determined you're not going to be a morning person fall term. 00:09:03.000 --> 00:09:10.000 It's okay to drop that 8am section of that class and maybe add that same class but at a 9am section ect. 00:09:10.000 --> 00:09:13.000 Or you have some other obligations or you have to make some changes to your schedule. 00:09:13.000 --> 00:09:17.000 That's something we can help you do that at the SOAR program in the state of Hawaii. 00:09:17.000 --> 00:09:30.000 So, information is coming very soon. Just to give you a heads up on April 15th is when registration for our Hawaii SOAR programs and block scheduling will go live on your portal. 00:09:30.000 --> 00:09:37.000 So, if you are from the state of Hawaii, you're an admitted freshman, through the magic of technology that link will appear on your portal. 00:09:37.000 --> 00:09:42.000 If you have no set up your account for your portal please do so as soon as possible. 00:09:42.000 --> 00:09:46.000 And once again instructions were included in your acceptance packet. 00:09:46.000 --> 00:09:52.000 But, just to help you out, I made sure that instructions will also being in that mailing about the Hawaii SOAR programs. 00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:62.000 But if you can't come to one of these events, let's say, what's a good example, you live on the big island or the island of Kauai and you just can't make it work to fly over to Maui or Honolulu 00:10:02.000 --> 00:10:12.000 we completely understand, we're going to encourage you to still sign up for a block schedule. We can work with you at a distance to make sure that transition is really smooth for you as a new freshman. 00:10:12.000 --> 00:10:18.000 So to continue with SOAR, we also have events in the state of California for our admitted freshman. 00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:23.000 So you'll see May 11th we're going to be in Concord, or you could say Walnut Creek area. 00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:31.000 And on May 12th in Anaheim. And so once again if you are from the state of California, first time freshman, make sure you get these dates. 00:10:31.000 --> 00:10:34.000 On your calendar think about which one is going to work best for you. 00:10:34.000 --> 00:10:42.000 These will be evening programs since these are weekday programs. They will be during the evening for your convenience. 00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:45.000 Allows folks to get off work or if they have to travel a little bit. 00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:49.000 And deal with some of the traffic potentially then we'll give you plenty of time. 00:10:49.000 --> 00:10:56.000 Those will be evening programs and once again you'll be registering for a California SOAR program using the Portal. 00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:61.000 So once again there will be a link that will appear and that'll be later in the month of April. 00:11:01.000 --> 00:11:09.000 So, we'll get that information to you relatively early but there will probably be a little bit of a time frame or a delay before you can actually go onto the Portal. 00:11:09.000 --> 00:11:20.000 So what we're projecting if you are from the state of California and you're a first time freshman that April 30th at 8 am is when that link will appear on your Portal 00:11:20.000 --> 00:11:24.000 and we'll shut that down about May 7th if I'm correct at 5 pm. 00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:30.000 So we'll get the information to you relatively early but in terms of actually activating it won't be until later in April. 00:11:30.000 --> 00:11:35.000 Once again if you are a freshman from the state of California. 00:11:35.000 --> 00:11:41.000 We also do SOAR programs on the Western Oregon campus and we have four dates 00:11:41.000 --> 00:11:42.000 that'll be available to you. 00:11:42.000 --> 00:11:48.000 I've had a lot of folks ask what are the dates, when will it be active, and hopefully I can try and address those questions for you. 00:11:48.000 --> 00:11:51.000 So you can see that we have two dates in June 00:11:51.000 --> 00:11:57.000 that we're just going to do it back to back. You don't have to go to both, you'll pick one, but we do two dates in the month of June 00:11:57.000 --> 00:11:58.000 And then two in July 00:11:58.000 --> 00:11:62.000 And so if you have a busy June, maybe a July date works best for you. 00:12:02.000 --> 00:12:07.000 Or maybe a situation where only the July 25th program is going to work for you. 00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:13.000 So, what I always tell students is take a look at your calendar, thinking about your summer obligations and commitments 00:12:13.000 --> 00:12:16.000 which SOAR date is going to work best for you? 00:12:16.000 --> 00:12:20.000 And if for some reason you can't come to a SOAR program on the Western Oregon campus 00:12:20.000 --> 00:12:22.000 we can work with you at a distance. 00:12:22.000 --> 00:12:26.000 The best thing for you to do is to select a block schedule on your Portal. 00:12:26.000 --> 00:12:29.000 So, please plan for a full day when you come to SOAR. 00:12:29.000 --> 00:12:36.000 If you have a summer job or other commitments or obligations keep in mind this really is a full day program. 00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:43.000 Most of our students are getting here relatively early in the morning. It can be as early as 7:30 am, 8 am for some of our placement tests, ect. 00:12:43.000 --> 00:12:49.000 And you may not be done until 3:30, 4 o'clock just depending on how advising and registration goes. 00:12:49.000 --> 00:12:58.000 As you connect with folks across campus there'll be an open house for the residents halls. It truly could be a full day so just plan for that. 00:12:58.000 --> 00:12:60.000 And we do have a separate orientation 00:13:00.000 --> 00:13:02.000 track for family members and guests. 00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:07.000 So, as an example, if mom and dad would like to come to SOAR with you there'll be some activities 00:13:07.000 --> 00:13:13.000 that you participate in together, there'll be other activities that are just separate for family members or guests. 00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:19.000 And so those sessions could cover anything from housing to service learning and career development. 00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:23.000 We even have content in Spanish as well for certain areas. 00:13:23.000 --> 00:13:28.000 We try to address the needs of our students as well as family members and guests. 00:13:28.000 --> 00:13:30.000 And so when will you get the SOAR information? 00:13:30.000 --> 00:13:33.000 That is going to be sent to you later in May. 00:13:33.000 --> 00:13:40.000 Because first we have to go through this intent to enroll process for you. So first of all we need to know whose actually coming to Western Oregon. 00:13:40.000 --> 00:13:46.000 Have you said yes, did you check the yes box for that intent to enroll process that begins May 1st? 00:13:46.000 --> 00:13:51.000 Okay we know you're coming to Western Oregon then we'll make sure you actually get the SOAR mailing itself. 00:13:51.000 --> 00:13:52.000 So hopefully that makes sense. 00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:57.000 First we have to go through that intent to enroll process and then we'll send that information to you. 00:13:57.000 --> 00:13:64.000 So, May 29th is actually when SOAR, the ones that are here on the Western Oregon campus 00:14:04.000 --> 00:14:08.000 those will go live in terms of registering for one of those dates 00:14:08.000 --> 00:14:10.000 and ranking your block schedule choices. 00:14:10.000 --> 00:14:14.000 It'll be the 29th of May at 8 am which I believe is a Friday, we just decided on that date. 00:14:14.000 --> 00:14:23.000 So that's just something to jot down in terms of your calendar in terms of when does SOAR actually go live for those ones that are based here on campus. 00:14:24.000 --> 00:14:29.000 One of the common questions we get this time of year is when am I going to find out about my housing situation. 00:14:29.000 --> 00:14:33.000 Where I'm living, who my roommate or roommates are, ect. 00:14:33.000 --> 00:14:40.000 So, in late July is when you should find out about where you're living, so which building you've been placed in, 00:14:40.000 --> 00:14:43.000 and then who your roommate or roommates are as well. 00:14:43.000 --> 00:14:47.000 So, you'll get a notification from housing. They'll say, "Hey check your Portal" 00:14:47.000 --> 00:14:52.000 and there in that heading of My Programs there'll be a link for housing 00:14:52.000 --> 00:14:59.000 and you're going to find out is it Ackerman Hall if that where you've been placed? Or is it Barnum Hall, Heritage, ect. 00:14:59.000 --> 00:14:64.000 And then who is my roommate or roommates depending on your housing situation. 00:15:04.000 --> 00:15:10.000 So for example, if you're placed in Barnum Hall mostly likely you're going to have two other roommates since that's 00:15:10.000 --> 00:15:12.000 a little different set up in terms of Barnum. 00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:16.000 We know it's a really exciting time and students are really anxious to find out. 00:15:16.000 --> 00:15:24.000 When do the residence halls open? So you can see September 20th, that is a Sunday, that kicks off our new student week and that is move in day. 00:15:24.000 --> 00:15:34.000 So the residence halls do open at 9 am on that day, not 8 am, not 7 am it's 9 am. Do you have to be there right at 9 am? The answer's no. 00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:44.000 If you can't arrive until one o'clock that's fine. If you're making that trip from Southern California or just don't feel like you need to be there right at nine o'clock not a problem at all. 00:15:44.000 --> 00:15:53.000 If you do not plan to arrive on that Sunday, if you're going to be delayed a few days because of travel obligations, work, ect. just let housing know. 00:15:53.000 --> 00:15:58.000 It's really important they know that you might be a day or two late in terms of checking in for your residence hall. 00:15:58.000 --> 00:15:67.000 And not to concern your roommate and housing, just want to make sure you're still coming to Western Oregon, so please let them know if you might be running a little bit late. 00:16:08.000 --> 00:16:11.000 And once again that Sunday is the kick off of our new student week. 00:16:11.000 --> 00:16:19.000 And new student week is for all new students. So if you are a transfer student, a first time freshman, all these activities are just for you. 00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:26.000 So it's not called freshman week or new transfer week it's for all new students so keep that in mind we have some great activities for you. 00:16:26.000 --> 00:16:29.000 And you can see there's contact information for university housing. 00:16:29.000 --> 00:16:36.000 So if you have very specific questions, you want to follow up to make sure housing has the most update information 00:16:36.000 --> 00:16:41.000 which building was my first choice, I can't remember when I filled out the housing application back in December, 00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:44.000 they're more than happy to address their questions. They are very accommodating. 00:16:44.000 --> 00:16:49.000 They'll be present at our SOAR programs that are on the Western Oregon campus, they'll be at TSOAR. 00:16:49.000 --> 00:16:58.000 And as I mentioned whether it's TSOAR or the SOAR programs that are on campus, there will be tours and open houses for the residents halls so you can see those halls. 00:16:58.000 --> 00:16:63.000 Once again there will be staff members from housing available to answer your questions. 00:17:03.000 --> 00:17:07.000 And just other items, kind of getting to the last of our slides here. 00:17:07.000 --> 00:17:12.000 But for those of you that are high school seniors and you make that decision to come to Western Oregon 00:17:12.000 --> 00:17:16.000 is make sure to get us your final high school transcript. 00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:21.000 It has your last semester or term grades on there. It actually has a graduation date that's pretty important. 00:17:21.000 --> 00:17:26.000 Want to make sure you actually did graduate from high school and that you still met all the requirements for admission. 00:17:26.000 --> 00:17:32.000 For our transfer students, make sure you get that final official transcript to us, that's very important. 00:17:32.000 --> 00:17:39.000 So, we either have that in the sealed envelope that's sent directly by the college or university or if it's electronic delivery there's certain methods we accept. 00:17:39.000 --> 00:17:42.000 But please get that final transcript to us. 00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:45.000 If you're taking summer courses, completely understand, just let us know. 00:17:45.000 --> 00:17:51.000 But it's very important whether you're a high school senior or as a transfer student that you get those transcripts to us. 00:17:51.000 --> 00:17:56.000 If not, we will put a hold on your account and you will not be able to register for winter term courses. 00:17:56.000 --> 00:17:65.000 And we always have a certain percentage of students that just assume that their school sent that transcript or they forgot to get that transcript sent to us 00:18:05.000 --> 00:18:11.000 and there's a hold on their account and there's nothing we can do in terms of allowing you to register for classes until you take care of that hold. 00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:14.000 It can be really stressful for you as a student. 00:18:14.000 --> 00:18:19.000 On your kind of to do list for your high school or the institution that you're currently attending as a transfer student 00:18:19.000 --> 00:18:22.000 make sure you just know you have to get that transcript to us. 00:18:22.000 --> 00:18:28.000 If you are a high school student with college credit which is great, make sure you contact that institution 00:18:28.000 --> 00:18:30.000 to have a transcript sent to Western Oregon. 00:18:30.000 --> 00:18:32.000 So I'll use an example. 00:18:32.000 --> 00:18:37.000 If you are a student from the Portland metro area here in the state of Oregon and you're getting credit through Portland Community College, 00:18:37.000 --> 00:18:42.000 just make sure that transcript gets sent to the office of admissions at Western Oregon. 00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:50.000 so we have those college credits, we can reward you for those credits, and that can go a long way in terms of maybe graduation requirements from Western Oregon. 00:18:50.000 --> 00:18:56.000 Now when it comes to advanced placement or AP credits or international BAC credits 00:18:56.000 --> 00:18:63.000 we usually get those scores in July and we send out notifications in terms of what credit you're receiving from Western Oregon. 00:19:03.000 --> 00:19:08.000 If you have any questions about that in terms of college credit, getting transcripts to us, ect. 00:19:08.000 --> 00:19:11.000 please contact the office of admissions, we'll be glad to help you out. 00:19:11.000 --> 00:19:16.000 I already mentioned new student week. Usually the schedules are released sometime after Labor Day. 00:19:16.000 --> 00:19:22.000 Last year's schedule I believe is still online. So if you want to get a taste of what new student week is like, some of the traditional activities, 00:19:22.000 --> 00:19:29.000 if you go to student leadership and activities, they usually have the prior year's schedule available 00:19:29.000 --> 00:19:33.000 or even they'll have that out during the summer just so you can get a taste of what new student week is like. 00:19:33.000 --> 00:19:42.000 First day of classes, when do I actually go to class and perhaps meet these instructors or professors for the first time and sit in that very first class. 00:19:42.000 --> 00:19:48.000 That is Monday, September 28th is the first day of classes at Western Oregon. 00:19:48.000 --> 00:19:57.000 So, just a reminder folks, we are in the quarter system, if you have friends maybe going to a semester institution ect. they start a little bit earlier, could be in the month of August. 00:19:57.000 --> 00:19:64.000 This could be one of your longest summers so take advantage of that. So we are in the quarter system here in the state of Oregon. 00:20:04.000 --> 00:20:08.000 And a shameless plug for our Facebook page so if you were to go to Facebook and type in 00:20:08.000 --> 00:20:12.000 Class of 2019, it's a great way to just connect 00:20:12.000 --> 00:20:15.000 with other new students that are coming to Western Oregon. 00:20:15.000 --> 00:20:20.000 So I encourage you to do that. We've been getting a lot of traffic on our 2019 Facebook page. 00:20:20.000 --> 00:20:22.000 Once again, that 's just a great way to meet other new students. 00:20:22.000 --> 00:20:27.000 And I often get that question is there a way I can talk to new students that are coming in? 00:20:27.000 --> 00:20:29.000 This is one way to approach that. 00:20:29.000 --> 00:20:33.000 So, that is it in terms of the slides I've prepared. 00:20:33.000 --> 00:20:40.000 Hopefully I've been able to address questions you have about some of those next steps. 00:20:40.000 --> 00:20:42.000 And it would appear that we don't have any questions so I must have done 00:20:42.000 --> 00:20:44.000 my job when it's all said and done. 00:20:44.000 --> 00:20:47.000 So I would like to go ahead and thank you for your time. 00:20:47.000 --> 00:20:50.000 Please contact the office of admissions if you do have any questions. 00:20:50.000 --> 00:20:57.000 Wolfgram@wou.edu is our general email account. We have a counselor a day that always checks that. 00:20:57.000 --> 00:20:60.000 Thank you so much and go wolves. 00:21:00.000 --> 00:21:06.000 Music
